I. Event Review

The 9th Cross Strait Four Regions Young Lawyers Forum, hosted by the Law Society, was successfully held on 20 September. 165 lawyers from the Mainland, Taiwan, Macau and Hong Kong attended this annual event to exchange ideas on various legal issues.

The theme of 2019's forum is "Retrospect and Prospect - A New Legal Generation in Greater China", which aims at summing up experience and advancing towards a successful future. The event featured a plenary session and three breakout sessions which held discussions on Wealth Management and Trust, Intellectual Property in Innovative Technology and International Dispute Resolution respectively. Against the backdrop of the development of the Greater Bay Area, the forum also featured a keynote speech about the Greater Bay Area by Mr. Tommy Yuen, Director for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs (Special Duties), HKSAR, who provided forward-looking insights to the development prospects of the Greater Bay Area.

On the day before the forum, representatives from various lawyers associations held a round-table meeting to share ideas on the latest developments in the industry in the four regions, the development needs of young lawyers and cross-border business capabilities, as well as future themes of the forum. All delegates spoke eagerly and enthusiastically and fruitful outcomes were achieved. In addition, the Law Society also arranged visits and welcome receptions for the participants.
