INVESTIGATION COUNSEL (Ref: COM/IC)

The Law Society seeks applications from an enthusiastic and responsible solicitor to fill the position of Investigation Counsel in the Compliance Department. The appointee will be responsible for investigating complaints, conducting inspections against law firms and assisting Intervention Agents in the intervention of law firms.

Requirements:

  • More than 3 years' post-qualification experience;
  • Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua) and be able to prepare written reports in English;
  • Previous investigation experience will be an advantage;
  • Strong communications and interpersonal skills, organized, highly efficient and independent.

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, COMMUNICATIONS AND EXTERNAL AFFAIRS (Ref: CEA/AD)

The Law Society of Hong Kong invites applications from high-calibre candidates for the position of Assistant Director, Communications and External Affairs. Reporting to the Director of Communications and External Affairs, the appointee will have overall responsibilities of leading a small team to organise local community events and activities to promote lawyer’s social profile and facilitate members' fulfillment of social responsibilities.

Job Duties:

  • Develop strategic and operational plans for publicity and education campaigns, projects and events to promote the image of the Law Society and engage various sectors of the community; 
  • Organise, in particular, publicity and education projects that can effectively help the younger generation better appreciate the meaning and value of the rule of law and judicial independence;
  • Act as Secretaries to relevant committees and working groups (e.g. drafting meeting papers and minutes);
  • Plan and manage contracts and activities that are contracted out; 
  • Create effective and meticulous communication content for use on multiple communication platforms;
  • Engage stakeholders, counterpart organisations as well as trade and industry associations to ensure corporate image and messages are presented effectively and properly;
  • Provide strategic and implementation advice on media issues where necessary; and
  • Perform any other duties as directed.  

Requirements:

  • A recognised university degree in mass communications, journalism, language or a related discipline;
  • A minimum of 5 years of solid managerial experience in public relations, marketing and event management;
  • Profound knowledge of multi-stakeholder communications, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work under tight deadlines;
  • Excellent planning, organisation and management skills;
  • Result-oriented, creative and highly self-motivated;
  • A team player who can work with colleagues and members across the organisation; and
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

ASSISTANT, COMPLIANCE (Ref: COM/ASST)

The Law Society seeks applications from an enthusiastic and responsible person to fill the position of Assistant in the Compliance Department. 

Job Duties:

  • To perform secretarial and clerical support to Investigation Counsel (“IC”);
  • To assist the IC to handle complaints and answer enquiries from the public and members;
  • To collate documents and assist the IC to prepare relevant reports;
  • To prepare draft correspondence (including memorandum and letters), keep relevant outgoing records and maintain proper filing both physically and digitally;
  • To fill in forms for conducting land searches, company searches, bankruptcy searches and death searches, etc.

Requirements:

  • F.6 or above with a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  • At least 1 year secretarial/clerical working experience;
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Chinese Word Processing;
  • Good telephone manner; and
  • Immediate availability is preferable.

ASSISTANT, STANDARDS AND DEVELOPMENT (Ref: S&D/ASST)

Job Duties:

  • To assist in the administration of the training programmes of the Law Society; 
  • To be responsible for the logistics of training courses, organisation of conferences, assessments, professional examinations and other activities;
  • To assist in accreditation of courses; and
  • To handle enquiries from members, course registrants, course providers, and examination candidates.

ANALYST PROGRAMMER (Ref: IT/AP)

Job Duties:

  • Participate in Application development life cycle for new web application development;  
  • Collaborate with vendor in business analysis, user requirement studies, testing and data migration and application go live;
  • Support and maintain our in-house application systems, manage documentation; 
  • 2nd Tier support in Website Content Management; and
  • Provide technical support on web application.

Requirements:

  • Higher Diploma holder or above in Computer Science or related disciplines with at least 2 years' relevant experience;
  • Experience in MS Dynamics CRM, and MS SQL will be an advantage;
  • Experience in software development and using JavaScript HTML5, Laravel/PHP, MySQL is a plus;
  • Experience in Content Management System (e.g. SiteCore) and/or Mobile app is a plus;
  • Good communication, analytical and problem solving skill and able to work independently under minimal supervision; and
  • Immediate availability is preferred.

IT ASSISTANT (TECHNICAL SUPPORT) (Ref: IT/ASST)

The Law Society seeks applications from enthusiastic, responsible person to fill the position of IT Assistant in the IT Section.

Job Duties:

  • Technical and Helpdesk support and manage incidents; 
  • Installing, configuring, patches update and managing in computer hardware, software and printer; 
  • To monitor the email gateway for incoming and outgoing e-mail messages; that includes email archiving, anti-virus / anti-spam gateway; 
  • To update the hardware inventory list; 
  • To assist other staff in setting up office meeting and Webinar, with such Zoom meeting, cam & speaker setting; and 
  • To undertake any other duties or non-office hour task as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or above in computer science in related disciplines; 
  • Minimum 1 year IT working experience; 
  • Good knowledge in PC hardware, printer, office equipment, network management, Anti-virus and online meeting tools, Document management system; 
  • Experience in supporting Windows OS, Microsoft Office Suite, Teams and SharePoint; 
  • Experience in Exchange O365, MS AD user admin, Server Backup solutions;
  • Professional qualification in any of the following will be added an advantage – MCSE / ITIL; and 
  • Have customer services mindset and problem-solving skills.
