The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

At the invitation of the China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission Hong Kong Arbitration Centre (“CIETAC Hong Kong”), the Law Society acted as a supporting organisation for the “Decoding Hong Kong Contract Law Series”, jointly organised by the CIETAC Hong Kong and the International Dispute Resolution Academy. Riding on the success of the series’ two previous events, the third seminar was held on 18 August under the theme “Restatement of Hong Kong contract law on Misrepresentation, Non-Disclosure and Mistake”. Mr. C. M. Chan, then-Vice-President and Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee delivered an opening speech at the event and shared his views on how Hong Kong's contract law keeps pace with the times and its advantages in the international arena.
