According to the “Joint Meeting System for Lawyers Associations in the Greater Bay Area” signed by the Law Society and lawyer associations in the Greater Bay Area in December 2018, the Law Society, Guangdong Lawyers Association and Macau Lawyers Association would take turn in hosting meetings to foster exchanges and promote legal services industry in the Greater Bay Area. Under the COVID-19 pandemic, the fourth Joint Meeting was held online on 11 July 2020. Representatives of the Law Society included President Melissa Pang, Vice President and Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee Mr. C.M. Chan, Vice-Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee Mr. Neville Cheng, as well as Secretary General Ms. Heidi Chu.

The meeting attendees presented the work done in response to the pandemic and relief measures rolled out for their members. Various suggestions were also proposed to leverage the cities’ respective advantages and enhance cross-border collaboration. The Law Society was invited to organise training courses to encourage cross-border cooperation and promote business development in the area.
