On 18 July 2025, Vice President Ms Careen Wong, together with Council Members Mr Justin Yuen and Ms Heidi Chui, extended a warm welcome to representatives from Peking University Law School (“PKU”), including Deputy Dean and Associate Professor Mr Dai Xin, and Assistant Professor and Assistant to Dean Mr Wang Huawei. The meeting provided yet another excellent opportunity for exchanging meaningful insights on advancing common law education in the Chinese Mainland, where the Law Society introduced recent and upcoming initiatives of both the Law Society and the Common Law Centre (the “Centre”).

Since 2019, the Law Society and PKU have been partnering to offer credit-bearing common law courses, covering specialised topics such as cross-border legal services and investment and commercial arbitration. This longstanding collaboration was further deepened earlier this year with the establishment of the Centre by the Hong Kong Academy of Law. The latest Mainland University Lecture Series, delivered successfully at PKU between March and April earlier this year, marked the seventh consecutive year of this initiative, which continues to reflect the shared commitment to nurturing legal talents with international perspectives. The Law Society is sincerely grateful for PKU’s enduring partnership, and remains dedicated to expanding engagement with academic institutions and legal professionals in non-common law jurisdictions.
