The Law Society received two delegations from the “National Training Course for Talents Handling Foreign-related Arbitration (Hong Kong)”. The Training Course was co-organised by the Hong Kong International Legal Talents Training Academy and the Ministry of Justice of the People’s Republic of China.
President of The Law Society of Hong Kong Mr Roden Tong, receives the delegations with Vice-Presidents Mr Amirali Nasir and Ms Careen Wong, Council Member and Vice-Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee (“GCLAC”) Mr Neville Cheng, Council Member and Vice-Chairlady of the GCLAC Ms Heidi Chui, as well as Vice-Chairman of the GCLAC Dr James Wong.
During the meetings, a wide array of topics was discussed, including the roles and functions of the Law Society, the landscape of the Hong Kong legal profession, and the role of solicitors in arbitration. The delegates expressed a keen interest in exploring how Mainland companies and legal parties could better leverage Hong Kong’s unique strengths as the only common law jurisdiction in China.
