The Second Roundtable Meeting with Guangdong Lawyers Association was held successfully on 28 November under the title “Experience-sharing on Cross-border Transactions under the 14th Five-Year Plan” in the form of webinar.

The Law Society’s Vice-President and Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee Roden Tong, as well as Vice-President of Guangdong Lawyers Association Lawson Chen delivered welcome speeches at the event.

Speakers from Hong Kong and the Mainland were invited to share on various practical topics, including corporate governance in Hong Kong and the Mainland, green loans under cross-border transactions, as well as filing regulations and the latest laws on cross-border financing in the Mainland. The speakers included Senior Counsel of Sinopec Century Bright Capital Investment Limited Winnie Tse, Deputy Secretary-General of the Cross-Border Finance and Capital Markets Law Professional Committee of Guangdong Lawyers Association Alex Huang, and Associate of Junhe LLP Zi Li. The Law Society’s Greater China Young Solicitors Sub-Committee Member Fiona Chan moderated the meeting.

The Law Society was also pleased to invite Peggy Au-Yeung, Principal Government Counsel, Legal Enhancement and Development Office, Department of Justice, HKSAR Government, to speak at the thematic sharing session on the latest development on Reciprocal Recognition and Enforcement of Civil and Commercial Judgments between Hong Kong and the Mainland.

Attracting over 80 participants from Hong Kong and the Mainland, the event served as a sequel to the first roundtable meeting held in March 2023, which aims to provide a platform for young lawyers from Guangdong Province and Hong Kong to share their experience.
