President C. M. Chan led the Law Society delegates to attend the Second Seminar on the Legal Challenges and Coping Strategies under the Belt & Road Initiative (“Seminar”) in Beijing on 25 August. Council Member and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Practitioners Affairs Tom Fu, Council Members Hin Han Shum, Neville Cheng, Chairlady of the Mediation Committee Cecilia Wong, Member of the Standing Committee on Practitioners Affairs and Arbitration Committee Eric Woo also joined the event as delegates of the Law Society.

The Seminar was jointly organised by the State-owned Assets Supervision & Administration Commission of the State Council and co-organised by the Department of Treaty & Law of the Ministry of Commerce and the Department of Justice. The event attracted more than 150 participants including representatives from 86 state-owned enterprises and private enterprises.

During the Seminar, President C. M. Chan delivered a speech on the advantages of choosing Hong Kong Law as the governing law for cross-border contracts.
