The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

The 11th Greater Bay Area Lawyers Association Joint Conference hosted by the Law Society of Hong Kong was held virtually on 11 February 2023. Representatives of the Law Society included Mr. Roden Tong, Vice-President and Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee; Mr. Thomas So, Past President and Chairman of the Greater Bay Area Sub-committee; Mr. Neville Cheng, Vice-Chairman of the Greater China Legal Affairs Committee; and Ms. Heidi Chu, Secretary General of the Law Society. President Mr. C. M. Chan delivered a welcome speech through a pre-recorded video.
At the meeting, representatives from lawyers’ associations of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau confirmed the mechanism of the Joint Meeting System for Young Lawyers’ Work in the GBA. In addition, the Law Society has taken up the role as the “Secretariat for the Liaison Working Group for Lawyers’ Associations in the GBA” from 2023 to 2024. Other items discussed at the meeting included the arrangements of the seminar series under the joint meeting system, collaborations between lawyers’ associations in the GBA in 2023, as well as suggestions in relation to GBA lawyers.
