In January 2021, the Civil Code of the People’s Republic of China, which consists of seven parts, came into effect. Guangdong Lawyers Association, The Law Society of Hong Kong and Macau Lawyers Association co-organised the first seminar of the “Seminar Series on Civil Code” on 6 November. Under the theme “Marriage and Family Law”, speakers from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macau exchanged views on how legal practitioners in the three regions can handle relevant legal matters through thematic sharing and case-study sessions. At the event, President C. M. Chan delivered the opening remarks, while Chairperson of the Law Society’s Family Law Committee Dennis Ho shared his insights at the event.
