Co-organised by the Department of Justice of the HKSAR Government and the Department of Law of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, and supported by the Law Society, the seminar on “Hong Kong Legal Professionals’ Practice and Other Opportunities in the Greater Bay Area“ was conducted in a hybrid mode on 9 September. The seminar attracted over 570 registrations from different regions, as well as over 30,000 viewership through live-streaming and media broadcast. Mr. C. M. Chan, President of the Law Society, was invited to moderate the event.

Topics covered by the seminar included the development of the rule of law in the Mainland, updates on liberalising the Mainland’s legal services market to the legal sector in Hong Kong, as well as various policies supporting Hong Kong legal profession's development, such as the Greater Bay Area Legal Professional Examination, enhancements on partnership associations between Hong Kong and Mainland law firms, in addition to the examination arrangements for China-appointed Attesting Officers. Speakers included Head of the Bureau of Lawyers’ Work of the Ministry of Justice Zhou Yuansheng, the Deputy Director-General of the Department of Justice of Guangdong Province Liang Zhen, and the head of the external relations department of the China Law Society Ji Daxin. Participants from the legal sector also shared their views on the development of the Greater Bay Area during the exchange session.
