Messrs. Chui And Lau Solicitors were appointed by the Council as the intervention agent. Former clients of the Intervened Firm should contact the intervention agent as soon as possible. The related contacts could be found here.

To facilitate the appointment of alternative solicitors by the former clients of the Intervened Firm affected by the intervention, members' firms on this list have expressed interest in providing legal services to these clients.

In response to the application for judicial review by Mr. Ng Wing-hung, a partner of Messrs. Wong, Fung & Co., regarding the Law Society of Hong Kong's intervention into the practice of the firm, the Judge of the Court of First Instance has refused the application and released the judgment on 19 February 2021. Please click here to read the judgment.

The period for submission of the statement of truth and the declaration form for claims to money held in bank accounts of the Intervened Firm expired on 31 May 2021.

On 18 June 2021, the Intervention Agent submitted a court application for approval to distribute money to those claimants whose claims had been verified. On 7 July 2021, the court heard and approved the application. The cheques had been made available to claimants whose claims had been verified by 4 August 2021 as ordered by the court. Please click here to read the judgment.

The Intervention Agent and assisting law firms have issued letters by post and/ or by e-mail to notify claimants or their legal representatives about the status of their claims and the arrangements for cheque collection. Generally speaking, the order of cheque distribution will follow the order of appointments made by the claimants.

A notice was published by the Intervention Agent on 24 September 2021 to invite any further claimants to register their claims on or before 6 July 2022.  Please click here to read the notice.

The Intervention Agent has also issued letters to notify former clients of the Intervened Firm to collect the title deeds and documents relating to their properties within 2 months from the date of the notification letter for security purposes and their own protection, failing which a sum of HK$30 will be levied per month or part thereof (calculated from the date of the notification letter) being additional logistics and warehouse fees incurred due to their failure to collect their title deeds and documents within the stipulated time. The said fees will constitute a lien on the relevant title deeds until the said fees are fully settled.  Please also note that if former clients of the Intervened Firm fail to collect the title deeds and documents relating to their properties within 2 months from the date of the notification letter, the Law Society of Hong Kong would not be responsible for any losses and/or damages arising out of any loss or damage of the relevant title deeds and documents stored at the warehouse.

The Intervention Agent has further verified the claims received on or after 7 July 2021, and has submitted a 2nd court application for approval to distribute money to those claimants whose claims have been verified.  The relevant court hearing has been held on 28 March 2024, and judgment will be delivered in due course.
