ASSISTANT, COMPLIANCE (Ref: COM/MA/ASST)

The Law Society seeks applications from an enthusiastic and responsible person to fill the position of Assistant in the Compliance Department. 

Job Duties:

  • To perform secretarial and clerical support to Monitoring Accountants (“MAs”);
  • To collate documents and assist the MAs to prepare relevant reports;
  • To assist the MAs to prepare draft correspondence (including letters and emails) and maintain proper filing of documents both physically and digitally.

Requirements:

  • Form 5 / HKDSE or above (or equivalent qualification) with a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  • Accounting or relevant field studies preferred with basic knowledge of principles of accounts; 
  • Welcome candidates with bookkeeping and accounting related experience; 
  • At least 1 year secretarial/clerical working experience;
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Chinese Word Processing;
  • Good communication manner; and 
  • Immediate availability is preferable.

ASSISTANT, REGISTRATION (Ref: COM/REG/ASST)

The Law Society seeks applications from enthusiastic, responsible person to fill the position of Assistant in the Registration Section of the Compliance Department.

Job Duties:

  • To provide clerical support to the Registration Officers and Assistant Director, Registration;
  • To assist the Registration Officers in processing applications for admission, renewal of membership and practising certificates, registration of training contracts, registration of foreign lawyers and foreign law firms, and to prepare relevant reports;
  • To answer enquiries from the public and members;
  • To process and issue membership cards for solicitors, trainee solicitors, registered foreign lawyers and student members; and
  • To arrange dispatch of documents, maintain the relevant outgoing records and oversee the filing system.

Requirements:

  • Tertiary qualifications with good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese, fluent in Putonghua preferred;
  • Minimum 1 year of clerical experience, those gained in the legal field is an advantage;
  • Good command of MS Office and Chinese Word Processing, proficient in Excel application is a must;
  • Good telephone manner;
  • A good team player, organized, hardworking and efficient; and
  • Immediately available is highly preferred.

ASSISTANT, STANDARDS AND DEVELOPMENT (Ref: S&D/ASST)

The Law Society seeks applications from enthusiastic, responsible person to fill the position of Assistant in the Standards and Development Department.

Job Duties:

  • To assist in the administration of the training programmes of the Law Society; 
  • To be responsible for the logistics of training courses, organisation of conferences, assessments, professional examinations and other activities;

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR (Ref: AD)

The Law Society of Hong Kong invites applications from high-calibre candidates for the position of Assistant Director.  The appointee will have overall responsibilities of leading a small team to organise events and activities as well as to devise strategic and operational plans to promote the image of the Law Society.

Job Duties:

  • Organise events, exhibitions, visits and functions for members of the Law Society and for the public;
  • Plan and execute the Law Society’s strategies and activities;
  • Plan and manage contracts and activities that are contracted out;
  • Draft communications write-ups such as executive speeches, advertorials and feature articles;
  • Oversee Law Society’s publications, websites and digital media channels;
  • Engage stakeholders, counterpart organisations as well as trade and industry associations to ensure corporate image and messages are presented effectively and properly;
  • Provide strategic and implementation advice on media issues where necessary;
  • Act as Secretaries to relevant committees and working groups (e.g., prepare meeting papers and minutes); and
  • Perform any other duties as directed.

Requirements:

  • A recognized university degree in law, mass communications, journalism, language or a related discipline;
  • A minimum of 5 years of solid managerial experience in public relations, marketing and event management;
  • Profound knowledge of multi-stakeholder communications, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines;
  • Excellent planning, organisation, and management skills;
  • Proactive, result-oriented, creative and highly self-motivated;
  • A team player who can work with colleagues, members and stakeholders; and
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese.

DATA OFFICER (Ref: COM/DF)

The Law Society seeks applications from an enthusiastic, responsible person to fill the position of Data Officer in the Compliance Department.  

Job Duties:

  • Inputting into the Membership Database System data of unqualified staff members of solicitors’ firms;
  • Preparation of correspondence regarding late notifications;
  • Processing applications relating to authorised solicitors’ clerks;
  • Liaising and following up enquiries from solicitors’ firms regarding their unqualified staff members and authorised solicitors’ clerks applications; and
  • Arranging the dispatch of correspondence and overseeing the filing system.

Requirements:

  • F.6 or above with a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
  • At least 2 years of working experience;
  • Familiar with the Membership Database System;
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Chinese Word Processing;

MEMBER SERVICES OFFICER (Ref: MS/OFF)

The Law Society seeks applications from enthusiastic and responsible person to fill the challenging position of Officer in Member Services Department.

Job Duties:

  • To assist in the organization of functions and activities, classes, seminars, webinars, receptions and other functions of the Department;
  • To work with external parties including PR agencies and other service providers;
  • To assist in initiatives and projects identified and/or relevant to the Department (including IT related projects);
  • To assist in the application and operation of government funding schemes for the benefit of the profession/members;
  • To arrange and participate in meetings of committees and working parties; draft agenda, papers and minutes and perform work incidental thereto;
  • To prepare budgets, reports and proposals;
  • To handle phone calls from members and public; and
  • To assist the Department in providing services to and advancing interests of its members.

Requirements:

  • A degree holder with at least 4 years' experience in event management;
  • Additional experience in customer service is an advantage;
  • Independent and a good team player; strong communication skills and able to work under pressure and meet deadlines;
  • A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua);
  • Proficiency in computer skills including MS Office and Chinese Word Processing;
  • Travelling may be required; and

SECRETARY TO ASSISTANT DIRECTOR, REGULATION & GUIDANCE (Ref: SD/SEC)

The Law Society seeks applications from enthusiastic, competent and suitably qualified persons to fill the position of Secretary in the Standards & Development Department.

Applicants should have:

  • Attained education of the level of matriculation or above, with formal secretarial training.  Degree holder is preferable;
  • At least 5 years’ secretarial experience in serving senior executives;
  • Good command of spoken and written English and Cantonese.  Mandarin is an asset;
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Chinese Word Processing; 
  • Experience working in law firms or the legal and/or commercial sector is an advantage.
