Established on 8 April 1907, the Law Society marked another historic moment 119 years later on the same date, with the official opening of its new premises at The Center on 8 April 2026.
In his opening remarks, President Roden Tong expressed his sincere appreciation to the distinguished guests for joining us to witness this important milestone. Their presence underscored the shared respect for the rule of law and the role of the legal profession in Hong Kong, as well as confidence in Hong Kong’s long established system of independent self regulation of the legal profession, operating in accordance with the law, professional standards and the public interest. We were honoured to receive congratulatory remarks from The Honourable John Lee Ka chiu, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (“HKSAR”); The Honourable Andrew Cheung Kui nung, GBM, The Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal of the HKSAR; and The Honourable Paul Lam Ting kwok, GBS, SC, JP, The Secretary for Justice of the HKSAR Government, who also officiated as the Guest of Honour at the Plaque Unveiling Ceremony.
The Grand Opening Ceremony brought together a wide range of distinguished guests, including government officials, senior representatives of the Judiciary, representatives of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, members of the Executive Council and Legislative Council, Consuls General, leaders from law schools, legal and professional bodies, Chambers of Commerce, and Past Presidents, Honorary Members, Council Members, Committee Chairs and Vice-Chairs of the Law Society.



The Law Society will continue to uphold the highest professional standards, serve the public with integrity, and contribute meaningfully to Hong Kong, to our country, and beyond.
