Invited by the Union Internationale de Avocats (“UIA”) and Tokyo Bar Association (“TBA”), Vice-President Amirali Nasir, who currently serves as Counsellor to the UIA President representing the Law Society, participated in the UIA Seminar themed “The New Roles of Lawyers in the Era of National Security and the End of Free Trade” held from 25 to 26 March in Tokyo, Japan.

On 26 March, Mr Nasir was invited to moderate Panel #6 titled “Attacks against Legal Professions and Counterattacks”. During the discussion, he provided an overview of the situation and challenges faced in Hong Kong, and highlighted the Law Society’s efforts in its role as the statutory self-regulatory professional body for solicitors in Hong Kong. On this occasion, meetings with the TBA and the Dai Ichi Tokyo Bar Association were also arranged, further strengthening ties between the Law Society and its Japanese counterparts.

The Law Society will continue to engage proactively with international counterparts to foster dialogue and professional collaboration, creating more opportunities for our members.
