The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

At the invitation of the Paris Bar, President Roden Tong attended the Opening of the Legal Year (“OLY”) 2025 in Paris and its side events from 27 to 29 November 2025 in Paris, France.
During the visit, President Tong met with representatives of Union Internationale des Avocats (“UIA”), including its President Fernando Hernández Gómez, President-elect Silvestre Tandeau de Marsac, and members of the Secretariat team. Discussion focused on the proposed organisation of a joint seminar in January 2027 in Hong Kong by the UIA and the International Organization for Mediation, Hong Kong’s first country-level international organisation. The Law Society will play an active role in promoting this meaningful collaboration, which will highlight Hong Kong’s internationalisation and reinforce its status as a leading centre for legal and dispute resolution.
President Tong also met with the Paris Bar and French National Bar Council to explore future opportunities for collaboration.
The event provided a valuable platform for bar leaders to remain abreast of topical issues across jurisdictions.
