From 2 to 7 November 2025, Vice-President Mr Christopher Yu attended the International Bar Association (“IBA”) Annual Conference 2025 in Toronto, Canada, joined by young members Harry Tang and Simran Sajhwani.

Mr Yu was invited to speak at the Conference session titled “What keeps lawyers awake at night: cyber and corruption risks in the supply chain”, highlighting Hong Kong’s cyber security landscape and success in tracing and freezing fraud proceeds through court actions. Council Member and Chairlady of Young Solicitors’ Group Hin Han Shum, in the capacity as National Representatives Officer of the IBA Young Lawyers’ Committee representing the Law Society, also delivered a virtual presentation on navigating the IBA.

On the occasion, the Law Society and the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) co-hosted a Lunch Sharing Session on 4 November 2025, connecting legal and business communities locally and globally. Mr Yu shared insights on Hong Kong’s legal industry, openness to foreign lawyers, and local opportunities for global legal talent. This event reaffirmed the Law Society’s commitment to strengthen ties between Hong Kong and the global community in not only legal sector but also business.

During the Conference, constructive meetings with the IBA, the Daini Tokyo Bar Association, and the Law Council of Australia were also held to explore potential collaboration.

The delegation actively promoted Hong Kong’s legal strengths and fostered global partnerships.
