On the occasion of the Opening of the Legal Year 2025 in England and Wales, a meeting with the Solicitors Regulation Authority was conducted on 29 September 2025. The meeting facilitated meaningful exchanges on key regulatory issues and discussed pathways for solicitors in both jurisdictions, as well as the growing impact of technology on legal practice. These discussions underscored a shared commitment to regulatory excellence, professional principles, and a forward-looking approach to innovation in the legal field.

The subsequent meeting with The Law Society of England and Wales on 30 September 2025 reaffirmed the strong and enduring partnership between the two jurisdictions and explored opportunities to deepen collaboration. The delegation discussed several significant topics, including the potential establishment of a “dual qualification accreditation system” to enhance opportunities for legal practitioners in both regions.

On the same day, President Roden Tong and Council Member Pak Sun Hau also participated in the Bar Leaders’ Discussion and Commonwealth Bar Leaders’ Meeting. These sessions brought together legal leaders from across the Commonwealth and beyond to discuss critical topics, including the rule of law, judicial independence, human rights, and the evolving role of mediation in resolving disputes.

These engagements provided valuable opportunities to strengthen international partnerships, address shared challenges, and highlight the resilience and excellence of Hong Kong’s legal system.
