Representing the Law Society, President Roden Tong attended the 35th Summit of Presidents of Law Associations of Asia (“POLA”) from 28 to 29 August 2025 in New Delhi, India, hosted by The Bar Association of India. 

During the first working session, “Courtrooms Without Walls: AI, Social Media, and the Rule of Law”, President Tong joined fellow international speakers in discussing the complex challenges posed by technologies such as AI and social media, including concerns over integrity, ethics, individual rights, and the independence of the judiciary. He also participated in the President’s Summit Meeting and shared the latest developments in Hong Kong’s legal profession with global legal leaders. 

To further enrich the visit, meetings were arranged with the Chief Justice of India, The Bar Association of India and the New Zealand Law Society respectively to explore potential collaboration.

Themed “Developments in Law – Concerns and Challenges for the Legal Profession in Asia-Pacific”, the 35th POLA Summit brought together around 50 head delegates from over 20 lawyers’ associations and international legal organisations.
