President Roden Tong participated in a high-level business delegation led by the Chief Executive of Hong Kong SAR to visit Qatar and Kuwait from 10 to 15 May.
The packed itinerary included visits to leading enterprises, showcasing how innovation and technology, and advocacy of arbitration policies could benefit across sectors. Mr Tong also met with Ambassadors of the People’s Republic of China in both gulf countries, gaining valuable insights into regional developments from both practical and broad perspectives.
On 12 May, at the roundtable meeting with the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, a wide range of topics was discussed, including cross-border market opportunities, collaboration among the business, industrial, and legal sectors of the two regions, and the important role of legal services in driving these initiatives forward. Being the only representative from the legal profession, Mr Tong was invited to share insights on how Hong Kong’s legal profession brings unparalleled advantages to cross-border business – our legal professionals are deeply international in outlook, well-versed in Mainland culture, and equipped with expertise in cross-border legal matters and dispute resolution. With these strengths, Hong Kong’s legal and dispute resolution professionals are uniquely positioned to support enterprises from Hong Kong and the Mainland in entering the Middle East market.
Mr Tong fully utilised the opportunity to introduce Hong Kong’s unique strengths to the Middle East counterparts, as well as leaders in the delegation.
