The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

At the invitation of the Advocates Association of Sarawak, Vice-President Amirali Nasir attended the Opening of the Legal Year (“OLY”) 2025 in Sabah & Sarawak and its side events from 9 to 12 January in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia.
The programme began with a welcome dinner on 9 January. A series of ceremonial events were arranged on 10 January to mark the opening of the legal year. The Ceremonial Procession in the early morning stood an important role in commemorating the occasion. On the following day, Mr Nasir participated in the National Symposium on Islamic Banking and Finance 2025. As Chair of the Law Society’s Islamic Finance Working Party, Mr Nasir took this valuable opportunity to exchange insights on the latest development in Islamic affairs across different jurisdictions with the symposium participants.

During the event, Mr Nasir engaged in fruitful exchange on topical issues relevant to the legal profession with the local legal practitioners and overseas bar leaders.
