Celebrating its 25th anniversary, the International Institute of Law Association Chief Executives (“IILACE”) Annual Conference was held from 21 to 24 November 2023 in Hobart, Tasmania, Australia. Secretary General Heidi Chu, in her capacity as the Immediate Past President of IILACE, attended the Conference representing the Law Society.

IILACE is an association that brings together Chief Executives and Secretary Generals of law societies and bar associations from around the world. The annual conference serves as a platform for these executive officers to exchange insights and discuss matters of common interest at local, national and international levels. With the theme “Leadership in the Law – A Global Perspective”, this year’s Conference attracted bar leaders from Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United States, Europe, Africa and Asia. The participants had the honour of visiting the Governor of Tasmania’s House and were graciously received by Her Excellency the Honourable Barbara Baker AC, the Governor of Tasmania.

Leaders from different law societies and bar associations gathered at the Conference.
