The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

The Law Society strives to raise general public legal awareness, facilitate public access to legal services and promote a culture of giving back to the community among our members.
Throughout the year, the Law Society representatives have the opportunity to connect with Consuls General to Hong Kong on various occasions. Sit-down meetings, however, are especially conducive to deepening discussions with better understanding on certain topics.
President C. M. Chan and Vice-President Roden Tong met with Consul General of Canada Rachael Bedlington and Consul and Program Manager Benoit Girouard on 20 November 2023. Similarly, the two Law Society representatives had a meeting with Consul General of New Zealand Peter Lund and Deputy Consul General of New Zealand Kate Macfarlane on 23 November 2023. During the meetings, constructive views and experience were exchanged on issues of mutual interest.
Later on 14 December 2023, President C. M. Chan and Secretary General Heidi Chu met with Consul General of Egypt Baher Sheweikhi and Deputy Consul General of Egypt Sherief Malaty. The Law Society delegates took the opportunity to introduce the advantages and strengths of Hong Kong’s common law system, as well as the legal and dispute resolution services.
