The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

Vice-President Christopher Yu, who chairs the Standing Committee on Compliance, and Secretary General Heidi Chu attended the International Conference of Legal Regulators (“ICLR”) 2023 held in Dublin, Ireland, from 25 to 27 October 2023 as representatives of the Law Society. The ICLR is an annual international conference for legal regulators from around the world where they exchange updates and keep abreast with the global trend in the legal regulatory sector. This year’s conference was well attended by legal regulators from Africa, Asia, Australia, Canada, Europe, the Middle East, New Zealand and the United States.
The Law Society representatives took the opportunity to explore collaboration opportunities at side meetings with legal regulators from Dubai (the Legal Affairs Department of the Dubai Government) and South Africa (the Legal Practice Council of South Africa and Legal Practitioners Fidelity Fund, South Africa).
