The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

Ms Karen Lam, the Law Society’s representative at AIJA, and Ms Cheung Po Yiu, a young lawyer sponsored by the Law Society, had the opportunity to participate in the 61st AIJA Congress in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 21 to 26 August 2023. Under the theme “Re-thinking the law in four dimensions – a think-tank to predict challenges that clients will face and identify legal solutions to meet them”, the Congress aimed to predict or provide a pro-active legal solution for the clients’ issues either in terms of strategy or potential legislation.
