The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

At the invitation of the International Bar Association (“IBA”), Ms Heidi Chui, member of the International Legal Affairs Committee and InnoTech Committee, attended the IBA Young Lawyers’ Committee Training Day under the theme “The Fundamentals of International Legal Business Practice” on 22 February 2023 in Singapore.
Representing the Law Society, Ms Chui spoke at a session entitled “Potential (and largely untested) legal issues arising from emergent technologies” and talked about the anti-money laundering laws and regulations, including the tackling of issues in cryptocurrency and NFT transactions, from a Hong Kong perspective. The session received an enthusiastic response and was attended by around 100 participants coming from various jurisdictions.
Ms Chui shared her valuable experience on this topic with the attendees from a Hong Kong perspective.
