The Law Society of Hong Kong held its 2015 Annual General Meeting today (14 May 2015). In accordance with the Society’s Articles of Association, the five longest serving members, namely Mr. Brian W. Gilchrist, Mr. Ambrose Lam, Mr. Michael J. Lintern-Smith, Mr. Amirali B. Nasir and Mr. Huen Wong, retired from the Council. Mr Nick Chan and Ms Bonita B Y Chan were co-opted during the year and they held office until the Annual General Meeting. There were thus seven vacancies on the Council. Six (excluding Mr Ambrose Lam) out of the seven outgoing members, offered themselves for re-election. The Society received one nomination of Mr. Mark Daly as a candidate for election to the Council. There were a total of seven candidates. As the number of candidates was equal to the number of vacancies, the seven candidates were deemed to be elected to the Council in accordance with the Society’s Articles.

The new Council (see the list below) held its first meeting immediately after the Annual General Meeting to elect the President and the Vice Presidents. Mr. Stephen W.S. Hung was re-elected President and Mr Thomas So and Ms. Melissa K. Pang were re-elected Vice Presidents.
