(for immediate release)

(Hong Kong, 15 May 2013) The Law Society of Hong Kong has set up the "Free Legal Helpline" 8200 8002 which offers free legal services to the public covering three areas of law, namely (1) Personal Injuries, (2) Matrimonial Law, and (3) Criminal Law. The Helpline will run from 20th May 2013 for a period of three months and provide up to 45 minutes of free legal consultation per case to the general public.

In view of the huge demand for legal advice from the public in these three specific areas of law during the course of the Law Week Helpline 2012, the Law Society has decided to set up the "Free Legal Helpline" that focuses on these three legal areas. By doing so, the Law Society aims to provide a service that is more focused and tailor-made to the needs of the public.

Members of the Law Society have demonstrated great enthusiasm towards the "Free Legal Helpline". More than 80 lawyers have volunteered to participate in this scheme.
