(Hong Kong, 23 July 2011) To strengthen Hong Kong citizens' understanding of pro bono services offered by the Law Society of Hong Kong, and to encourage more Hong Kong lawyers to participate in pro bono services, the Law Society of Hong Kong will hold its first Pro Bono Exhibition at Olympian City II, G/F, Central Atrium, 18 Hoi Ting Road, West Kowloon, Hong Kong from 23 to 24 July 2011. The following guests of honour The Hon Chief Justice Geoffrey Ma (Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal), Ms Florence Hui, JP (Undersecretary for Home Affairs) together with Mr Dieter Yih, Mr Ambrose Lam (Vice Presidents of the Law Society of Hong Kong), Ms Melissa Pang (Chairlady of Pro Bono Committee), Ms Angela Lee (Chairlady of Pro Bono and Community Work Recognition Committee), Ms Sylvia Siu (Chairlady of Working Group on Pro Bono Exhibition), Ms Sheren Tang (Pro Bono Ambassador, famous Hong Kong television actress) will officiate the Opening Ceremony on 23 July.

The Exhibition will introduce the Law Society, pro bono services and pro bono activities (such as Law Week, Law and the New Generation, Path’s Builder mentorship programmes, seminars etc) through a variety of innovative ways, and share with the public prominent pro bono projects through interactive means. The website for pro bono services will also be launched on that day.

To extend the spirit of pro bono services of Hong Kong lawyers, and to help the underprivileged to safeguard their legal rights, the first stop of the roving exhibition will be held at Youth Square, 7th Floor of Youth Square, 238, Chai Wan Road, Chai Wan from 25 July to 12 August. Other venues of the roving exhibition will be announced soon.
