The Law Society of Hong Kong expresses deep concern and sympathy to the victims of the earthquakes that occurred in the Sichuan Province on 12 May 2008.
Since the launch by the Law Society of a campaign calling for emergency relief donations by the legal profession, close to HK$2 million donations were received from 28 law firms and 228 solicitors and law firm staff members. These donations were delivered by President Lester Huang to the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region today (23 May 2008). Deputy Director Wang Feng-Chao in receiving these donations on behalf of the Liaison Office expressed his sincere thanks to the legal profession and he assured that all donations will be used for relief work of the earthquake.
The Law Society continues to appeal to its members to lend their support.
