The Law Society of Hong Kong is a professional association for solicitors in Hong Kong vested with statutory powers to regulate the professional conduct of solicitors, trainee solicitors and foreign lawyers. It was incorporated in 1907 as a company limited by guarantee.

The Law Society welcomes today's announcement by the Chief Executive, Mr. Tung Chee Hwa of the extension of the appointment of Ms. Elsie Leung as Secretary for Justice for a further two years. The Law Society is pleased to note that Ms. Leung has accepted the invitation to stay in her post and wishes her every success in her endeavours in which she will have the Law Society's support.
