The Law Society sends out an electronic version of its Weekly Circulars and Yellow Pages to its members and law firms every Thursday (or the following working day if Thursday falls on a Public Holiday) by e-mail. If you wish to advertise in the Yellow Pages Section, please note the following information:

SITUATIONS VACANT

"SITUATIONS VACANT" is a recruitment service:

  1. For Hong Kong and Foreign Law Firms to recruit legally qualified staff and general staff.
  2.
For Non Law Firms to recruit in-house legally qualified staff.

This service is not intended for Recruitment Agencies or Human Resources Consultancies. Recruitment Agencies or Human Resources Consultancies may consider placing advertisements in the Law Society monthly journal, Hong Kong Lawyer. Please contact Thomson Reuters, the publisher of the journal, direct.

Procedure for Submitting the Situations Vacant Application

To apply for the Situations Vacant Service, please submit the application through the Law Society Registration and Electronic Payment System by 1:00 p.m. on the preceding Thursday (or the previous working day if Thursday falls on a public holiday):

Instructions on How to Use the Situations Vacant Form


1.
Please download the appropriate size of the form for "Situations Vacant" e.g. 3" x7" from the Law Society Registration and Electronic Payment System.


Size and Charge (per Situations Vacant)

4" (height) x 7" (width) at HK$2,500
6" (height) x 7" (width) at HK$3,700
9" (height) x 7" (width) at HK$5,000

The following message will be displayed: "The document you are opening contains macros or customizations. Some macros may contain viruses that could harm your computer".

3.
Press "Enable Macros" to continue. This macro program will not write anything to the hard disk of your computer and therefore no virus can be transferred. If you are using MS WinWord 2000, you may need to set your security level to Medium level by pressing [Tools/Macro/Security] in order to activate the macro.

4.
The macro will temporarily disable the AutoCorrect Function of your WinWord. Press "OK" to continue.

5.
Please read the notes at the top of the form before completing it.

6.
After completing the form, press [File/Save As] to save your file to a different name e.g. "My situations vacant.doc" and then Press [File/Close] to close your file.
  7.
The macro will scan all paragraphs in your situations vacant. If any style other than "Normal" is found, a message will be shown informing the style found. Press "OK" to continue. The paragraph style will be automatically changed to "Normal".

8.
After all styles are changed, a message will be shown and you will be asked to save the file.

9.
You must check whether the paragraphs are correctly changed. Press "OK" to save the file if all paragraphs are correct; or press "Cancel" to return to the file for editing. You may edit the format of the paragraphs yourself.

10.
After all paragraphs are checked, press [File/Save] and [File/Close] to save the file again.

Procedure for Submitting the Professional Announcement Application

To apply for the professional announcement service, please submit applications through the Law Society Registration and Electronic Payment System - Yellow Pages (Situation Vacant / Professional Announcement Notice ) - We are a Hong Kong / Foreign Law Firm web page by 1:00 p.m. on the preceding Thursday (or the previous working day if Thursday falls on a public holiday).

Points to note for Circulation of Notice


1.
For notices relating to mediation training, the following disclaimer must be inserted in the Notices:
Disclaimer of the Law Society: The above course does not lead to admission as mediators on the Law Society's Panels of Mediators.

For CPD Courses notices, activities that have been accredited with CPD points by the Law Society of Hong Kong can make reference to the CPD accreditation in the Notice. For those CPD Courses which have applied for accreditation but have not been granted accreditation yet, the phrase "Law Society CPD points being applied for." can be included.

3.
The notice will be sent out as an image, all website hyperlink will be deactivated.

THE LAW SOCIETY RESERVES ITS RIGHT TO ASK FOR PRODUCTION OF DOCUMENTATION IN SUPPORT OF AN APPLICATION AND RETAINS ITS ABSOLUTE DISCRETION TO REFUSE ANY APPLICATION FOR PUBLICATION OF SITUATIONS VACANT, PROFESSIONAL ANNOUNCEMENT AND CIRCULATION OF NOTICE.
