THE LAW SOCIETY OF HONG KONG AND
THE HONG KONG COUNCIL OF SOCIAL SERVICE
COLLABORATES ON PRO BONO PROJECTS FOR SOCIAL ENTERPRISES
(Hong Kong, 18 October 2012) The Law Society of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Council of Social Service (HKCSS) will be joining hands in offering pro bono services to social enterprises, as well as promoting philanthropy in Hong Kong.
To celebrate the collaboration, a launching ceremony will be held on 19 October 2012 at Auditorium, 1/F., Duke of Windsor Social Service Bldg., 15 Hennessy Rd., Wanchai, H.K. from 2:30pm to 3:00pm.
The following guests will officiate the Launching Ceremony:

Ms Christine Fang, BBS, JP, Chief Executive of HKCSS;

Mr Huen Wong, JP, Past President, Council Member, Chairman of Standing Committee on Member Services of the Law Society of Hong Kong;

Mr Lester Garson Huang, JP, Past President of the Law Society of Hong Kong;
-
Ms Melissa Pang, JP, Council Member and Chairlady of Pro Bono Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong.
The Launching Ceremony will kick start the collaboration between the Law Society and HKCSS, including seminars to social enterprises, examining their legal structure, and studying some legal issues relating to the setting up and running of social enterprises in Hong Kong.
The first series of legal seminars to social enterprises will be held on 19 October 2012 from 3:00pm-5:30pm and 14 November 2012 from 2:30pm-5:30pm at Auditorium, 1/F., Duke of Windsor Social Service Bldg., 15 Hennessy Road, Wanchai, H.K.
Subject to the demand, more seminars on legal issues for social enterprises and similar legal seminars for NGOs registered under HKCSS may be launched in the coming year.
The Law Society and HKCSS will also have a cross-sectoral collaboration to promote philanthropy, the value of giving to meet pressing social needs in Hong Kong. The two parties will further explore the possibility of arranging volunteer lawyers to give pro bono legal assistance to SEs and NGOs under HKCSS.
